The Creator look like confusionist. In the world today we have about 170 religions and over 14000 denominations.
Each religion has its fanatics. Some people are using religion to kill, steal, manipulate and also to destroy other people
why do you think religion was created?
Why should we continue deceiving ourselves . Your response should be based on logical reasoning please.
People were just trying to make sense of the world around them. It also had social and political utility. A group of people with shared religious beliefs generally view themselves as being on a team or in a group with shared goals.
So religion was used as a common ground for uniting people, a way of easing the sense of uncertainty about life, and a method of control.
This. Imagine rainbows and earth quakes and floods back in those days, they would have blown everyone’s mind and the idea that a judgmental higher power was controlling them is easy to explain.
Combine that with a much more brutal time in humanity, and having that higher power encouraging people to behave better was easy.
I think religion was probably started with good intentions, has done some really good things, but I think it overall has not been a force for good in humanity.
As a way to explain what we can’t explain. The world’s a lot less scary when you have an explanation for death and natural disaster.
Honestly, I see religion as a comfort for death.
Control and order
Have you ever been in an area where it is so dark at night you can clearly see the stars, or better yet, the Milky Way? It’s amazing. Imagine you did not know what stars or outer space was, and there was no knowledge of science that explained what you see. So you just make something up because it is better to have an explanation of something you otherwise can’t explain rationally. Get enough people to believe it and boom, religion. Religion is a way to explain the workings of the world when there was a lack of science.
explain the unexplainable.
Because people did not understand certain phenomena that were happening around them (thunder, volcanos, rain etc). Also, it gave comfort to people when bad things happened
Explain the big, scary questions about the world before we had science. Now it’s just a matter of time before it is phased out
In the beginning people were scared. Predators hunted them, the weather tried to kill them and everything was beyond there control. Whether it was a hallucination or a moment during a storm pleading it to stop, something happen and they thought it was something beyond them. A being of power had cause the storm to stop or had appeared in the sky looking angelic. And so the stories began. It brought hope and a form of control. Pray and be saved is all you had to do. Think of it like the boogeyman in the closet. Small children are afraid… Read more »
To easily explain away the vast amount of things we didn’t and don’t understand.
Keep people stupid and scared, give them a reason to be scared, stupid, and a new sense of moral superiority and you can control them while they empty their pockets for you.
Christianity, for starters, was implemented in the middle ages to keep people in line and respectful of royalty. I think many religions are similar to this, where people in power use it to make sure everybody does what they are told. I also think religion was created to make sense of the world. In many ancient civilisations, nobody really had any idea what was going on, so they came up with these cool ideas and stories to try to understand what was happening around them. One final reason I believe religion was created is to give people a sense of… Read more »
People trying to explain things they couldn’t explain rationally
Religion was created originally to explain natural phenomena, Gods and deity’s were created for the sole purpose of explaining why such a thing happens, it was easier back then to believe in a all powerful deity than try to understand how it actually works and why, today we have science and we can explain those things that before we could not. There are still many questions to be asked and many problems to be solved, but as for now many people such as myself have chosen to believe that there is no god, mainly because the religions forged by our… Read more »
The idea of death and there being nothing after death is scary af.
Human are desperate to put a purpose or reason to everything. The worse of the people used that fear to make a man that if you don’t agree with you suffer forever. Its just power hungry people making up stories to push their own agenda.
